Attempted Robbery on Church Road

Please be advised that at 12.50pm today (Tuesday 23rd March), a man entered the garden of Yendens on Church Road and attempted to steal a bike from the garage.

The homeowners were sitting in their kitchen at the front of the house and saw the man trying to make off down the drive.

The five bar gate was shut and as the residents chased after the man he let the bike go, climbed over the gate and escaped.

He was white, twenties/thirties, black jacket and black trousers.

It is assumed that he smashed through the hedge and got into the back garden via the footpath which runs from Church Road to The Meadows, next to Chelsfield Equestrian centre.

The incident has been reported to the police.

This is the second attempted burglary reported in as many weeks, so it can only be assumed that thieves are expecting more properties to be unattended during the day now that lockdown is starting to ease.

Please remember to set your alarm when leaving the house and double check that all windows are closed before you leave.
